Session One: Thesaurus Worship
We all know a thesaurus is handy for finding variations of words. So, what about worship? Are there various ways to worship God? If you were to look up the word worship in a thesaurus, words such as the following would be found: honor, adore, glorify, and respect. If there are so many ways to honor God, then why is it so commonly confined to an activity that occurs in a church once a week?
Music: Nineball
Speakers: Chelsey Wallace and Courtney "Courthead" Thompson
Session Two: Honestly?
It is very easy to get caught up in a spiritual lingo when we pray. It may even appear that our spiritual leaders use ritzy words that we don't understand. Sometimes, this can make us feel like our prayers are inadequate and have less meaning. This simply is not true! God cares about what we care about, and he wants us to share what is really in our hearts. God wants us to talk to him like he is our BFF! Why do we limit our prayers to only certain words and thoughts?
Music: The Jason Lovins Band
Speakers: Chelsey Wallace and Courtney "Courthead" Thompson
Session Three: Beauty from Pain
We all go through hard times in life- it is absolutely inevitable. During these rough situations, we tend to ask God,"Why?" or even go as far as to blame or judge him. We turn our back on him and think we can do it all on our own. This isn't getting us anywhere. God wants to bring us out of this because he loves us and knows that we can't do it on our own. So why can't we let go of the control that we think we have and let God work his good to ultimately bring beauty from our pain?
Music: Farebridge
Speakers: Keith and Clark Menshouse (4thmaninthecar.com) and Courtney "Courthead" Thompson
Session Four: Forget It
Our generation tends to put their security in things that are destined for epic failure. We plan our whole lives as if we are going one way- our way. So when life throws us a curve ball, we are forced to reconsider the validity of everything we have ever known. By putting our trust in ourselves, we fail to recognize the absolute truth of God's purpose for all humanity. If God's plan is so infallible, why do we put our trust in the things that will constantly disappoint?
Music: Trust Fall
Speakers: Chelsey Wallace and Courtney "Courthead" Thompson
Session Five: Finding You
A major problem in our culture today is that people do not know who they are. The Bible says that if we try to find our lives, we will lose them, but if we lose our lives for his sake, we will find ourselves and Him. Many teens are looking for themselves in all the wrong places. They search for their purpose in the things of the world, but purpose can only be found in God. If our purpose is God-given, then how can we find who we are without finding him first?
Music: Trust Fall
Speakers: Chelsey Wallace and Courtney “Courthead” Thompson
Session Six: Hands and Feet
"I could never do that."
Right?
Wrong!
Too often, we stay away from what we are called to because we assume we have to do it alone. Obviously, it is impossible to do what we are called to do by ourselves. But God doesn't want us to do it alone. He wants us to be his hands and feet to accomplish his will. Why would we limit ourselves to what we can do, when, if we let God work through us, we can accomplish something so much bigger?
This session will contain foreign music and several different speakers.
Session Seven It's On!- Fighting an ADD(Apathetic Definite Disorder) Generation
The expectations we put on teenagers have been dropping over the past fifty years. It has gotten to the point where we are expected to be rebels without a cause, and do nothing but play video games and party. But is there more that we could be doing? God is calling us to something now, and his plan isn't confined to age limitations. Why do we conform to these low expectations when God has something huge planned for each of us?
Music: COG (Children of God), Farebridge, Eleventyseven
